There are places in Europe you travel to because they exist nowhere else. The Piazza della Signoria in Florence is one of them. The Piazza San Marco in Venice. And when on a summer evening the sun warms the sandstone, the dome of the Nikolaikirche glows in the last light and the first glasses are filled on the steps of the Landtag, so is the Alter Markt in Potsdam.

We are building four houses here. Right on the square, among its grand neighbours: the Brandenburg State Parliament, the Museum Barberini, the Nikolaikirche. What once stood here, Potsdam has reclaimed over a long decade. What we build joins it. We see our houses not as solitaires but as part of an ensemble that, without them, does not quite exist yet.
